Invitation

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee it is my pleasure to invite you to the 4th ISHS International and 8th National Symposium on Seed, Transplant and Stand Establishment of Horticultural Crops, "Translating seed and seedling physiology into technology". The symposium will be held in San Antonio, Texas, USA, December 3-6, 2006, under the auspices of the International Society for Horticultural Science.

Improvement of stand establishment requires basic and applied understanding of seed and seedling performance under a variety of environments. We expect this symposium to foster exchange of experiences by scientists from all over the world and to promote their cooperation for a renewal of objectives in this field.

The main emphasis will be on vegetable and ornamental species, including competing weeds. We also encourage scientists working in horticultural species that have therapeutic, pharmaceutical or culinary properties (medicinal, aromatic, and herbs) or in landscape restoration (wild species). We hope to attract scientists and educators in biology, physiology, genetics, pathology, horticulture, agronomy, and/or ecology as well as industry and anyone else interested in seed and transplants.

Topics

We look forward to seeing you in San Antonio.
